MWA and Greenway Solutions Announce Landmark Exclusive Knowledge Partnership to Strengthen Australia’s Open Space and Turf Management Sector

Melbourne, Australia — 12 December 2025 — Municipal Works Australia (MWA), the national peak body representing municipal works professionals, has today announced a landmark Exclusive Knowledge Partnership with Greenway Solutions, one of Australia’s leading vegetation and turf management providers servicing over 200 councils nationwide.

Beginning 1 January 2026 and spanning an initial 24-month term, the partnership will deliver Australia’s most comprehensive and accessible learning program dedicated to open space and turf management. The agreement combines MWA’s national education and workforce development platform with Greenway Solutions’ deep technical expertise and council-focused service footprint.

Under the agreement, Greenway Solutions becomes MWA’s exclusive Knowledge Partner for open space and turf management, supporting a national training program, digital learning, council resources, and industry events. The collaboration aims to enhance capability, standardise best practice, and support a more resilient and sustainable open-space workforce across Australian local government.

A National Learning Program for Councils

The partnership will deliver a multi-channel learning program including:

  • Live and on-demand technical webinars
  • Practical case studies and executive briefings
  • A suite of online training modules for council field teams
  • Co-branded open space management resources
  • Integration of Greenway expertise into MWA’s Vegetation Managers Forum (VMF)
  • Strong presence and technical sessions at MWA’s national conference

MWA will support the program with national marketing, member engagement, and an expanded digital learning platform to ensure access for councils across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas.

Strengthening Industry Capability

MWA Chief Executive Officer Peter Ali said the partnership reflects MWA’s commitment to providing high-quality, practical learning that improves service delivery for communities.

“Local government plays a vital role in delivering and maintaining Australia’s open spaces. This partnership brings together national leadership, trusted expertise, and real-world knowledge to lift capability across the sector. We’re excited to partner with Greenway Solutions to offer councils a consistent, high-quality pathway for developing their teams.”

Greenway Solution’s Head of Strategic Partnerships, Steve Hampton, said the partnership will help councils access the latest technical insights into turf and vegetation management.

“We work side-by-side with councils every day. This partnership enables us to share our best knowledge, innovations, and national experience through MWA’s excellent learning infrastructure. Together, we’re supporting safer, greener, and more sustainable open spaces.”

Driving Innovation and Best Practice

The partnership also includes co-developed online training, national consultation opportunities, and the ability for councils to engage Greenway Solutions for specialist advice under the MWA banner.
