After recently being on display at the Municipal Works Australia conference in Bendigo, Team 40 is set to compete in Round 2 of the RX8 Cup at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria over the Anzac Day long weekend—26th, 27th, and 28th April.
Team 40’s commitment to roadworker safety is unwavering. Building on their participation in Round 1 at the picturesque Phillip Island track, They are once again using the Number 40-themed Mazda RX8 as a standard speed limit sign on active roadwork sites. This powerful symbol carries the safety message “SLOW DOWN, WORKERS AROUND,” a testament to the team’s dedication to promoting roadworker safety.
Round 1 presented challenges for Team 40, as they needed more in-seat time to acclimate to the car. Despite this, they managed to break into the top 10 at the start of race three, only to have their windscreen shattered by flying gravel, abruptly ending their race. However, the team’s resilience was evident as they still secured position 13 in the championship, even without starting the last race.
Winton Raceway near Benalla in Victoria is an entirely different track. It is much tighter and has slower corners. We also now have time to do some set-up work on the car to help with its handling. Round 2 also sees some extra supporters for the team, with GO Industrial (the new owners of Access Linemarking Equipment) and GSR Suspension Developments coming on board. We are immensely grateful for their support, which is integral to our safety initiatives.
As a supplier to Councils, State Governments and infrastructure-based companies, Access Linemarking Equipment has always supported safety initiatives for their customers’ employees, as most of them operate on active roadwork sites and constantly talk about the number of incidents that happen daily.
