This year’s conference presents speakers that highlight the facets of breakthrough innovation and creativity, leading change, and reengagement  that emerges in response to these challenges.

Keynote Speaker

Peter Bol OLY

Born in Sudan, Peter Bol OLY migrated to Australia at a young age and has called Australia his home ever since. Today, it is with the greatest pride that Peter gets to represent his country with the highest of standards both on and off the track. Peter’s presentation will take us through his life journey, from his formative years as a primary school student in Toowoomba through to his recent fourth place finish in the final of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics 800 metre final. 

Scott Grayson

CEO for the American Public Works Association

Scott Grayson serves as Chief Executive Officer for the American Public Works Association (APWA) and the Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA). In this role he provides strategic leadership and directs operations to ensure that the vision and core values of APWA and CPWA are communicated and implemented at all levels of the organization. He collaborates with key stakeholders in the public works sector including: the U.S. Congress, Canadian Parliament, and federal and provincial/state branches of government agencies.

Beau Vernon

Sporting Coach and Motivational Speaker

On June 23rd 2012 Beau’s life changed forever. A normal incident in a normal game of Aussie rules football left him with C5-C6 quadriplegia. In an instant he went from a 23 year old who never sat still, to spending 8 months in hospital and looking at the prospect of spending his life in a wheelchair. Before the incident he played any sport and would be up for any outdoor activity and he even quit a commerce degree at the thought of sitting down to work all day. Things have definitely changed for Beau. Hear about Beau’s experiences of living with a spinal cord injury and the difficulties that come with it.

Sophie Taylor

Australian Women’s National Field Hockey team.

Sophie Taylor is an Australian hockey player, a defender for the Australian Women’s National Field Hockey team. Sophie is an athlete with a passion for her dual career working as a Physiotherapist. Sophie finished her Health Science and Master of Physiotherapy degree at La Trobe University in 2019 and has since worked as a Physio at Stoke Physio in Perth. In her spare time Sophie continues to further develop herself as part of the Victorian Institute of Sport ambassador programs, studying and coaching.

Kate Roffey

Melbourne Football Club President

Kate Roffey joined the Melbourne Football Club Board in 2013 and was elevated to the role of President in April 2021. Kate is currently the Director of Deals, Investment & Major Projects at Wyndham City and is also the Chair of the Metro Trains Advisory Board, and a Member of the Victoria University Council. Kate is also the former Chair of the Victorian Regional Channels Authority and Member of the Ministerial Better Planning and Approvals Review Board and the Ministerial Freight Advisory Committee.

Kate is the former CEO of the Committee for Melbourne, former CEO of VicSport and the Senior Manager responsible for the billion dollar Melbourne Park Tennis Centre redevelopment at Tennis Australia.

Ben Price

Internationally renowned MC and Entertainer

Ben Price has mastered more than 200 voices and written comedy sketches, impersonating Donald Trump, Dr Phil, Scott Morrison, Kevin Hart, Homer Simpson, Sean Connery, Arnold Schwarzenegger & many more. He has appeared on numerous U.S show including Huckabee and Living East Tennessee, as well as providing character voices for the no. 1 animated feature film, The Pilgrim’s Progress. Ben will be providing the entertainment for Komatsu conference dinner. 

Nathan Burke

Former Australian Rules footballer

Nathan Burke is the current Head Coach of the Western Bulldogs AFLW team. He was a tough rover who always backed himself in a contest and was one of the most courageous footballers to play for the St Kilda Football Club. He set the club record for the greatest number of games at his retirement, with 323 games which was broken by former team-mate Robert Harvey in round 7, 2006. His tough playing style led to him using a helmet. Burke now runs his own consultancy company specialising in leadership, resilience, mental health and wellbeing.
